Associate Consultant: Impact Investment

Robert Christopher is a seasoned Agribusiness Finance Specialist and Investment Manager with over 10 years of practical experience in Impact Investment. Throughout his career, Robert has worked in various roles within the agribusiness banking, impact investment, and Business Development Consultancy spaces. He has developed a wide range of skills and expertise in areas such as agricultural projects financing, investment assessment, value chain development, financial product design, project management, corporate relationship management and credit risk management.

Currently, Robert works as a private consultant and also an Associate Consultant with Palm Establishments Limited (PEL). Robert is providing professional consultancy services in the fields of MSME business advisory, impact investment, and Agribusiness Finance. Robert also provides business advisory services for Stitching Iungo XL, an Impact Investment company that exclusively provides finance and support to East African SMEs in the missing middle, leveraging the resources of local business angels as co-investors. Robert also worked as an Associate Consultant for both Match Maker Associates (MMA).

Robert has successfully completed various assignments which include, but are not limited to the following; a) Design and implementation of a capacity building program for SHONA Capital in Uganda, b) Design of a Catalytic Financing Facility for Water Supply and Sanitation in Uganda, c) Design of a Small Business Growth Pilot Program for Social Capital Foundation (SCF) in Tanzania, d) Market scoping study and facility structuring for the establishment of the Facility for Agriculture Finance in Southern Africa, and , e) Market analysis and options for a Public Private Partnership (PPP) irrigation financing facility in Tanzania.

In the past, Robert worked as an Investment Manager for the Match Maker Fund Management Ltd (MMFM). MMFM is a professional Fund Management Company based in Arusha, Tanzania specializing in managing Impact Investment Funds in developing countries. Robert also worked for NMB Bank Plc, a fully-fledged retail and commercial bank in Tanzania.

Robert holds an MBA in Corporate Management from Mzumbe University and a Bachelor of Public Relations and Advertising from the University of Dar es Salaam. He has also completed multiple short courses and training certificates in banking, agribusiness and impact finance, and holds a Regional Certificate in Agricultural Finance from Kenya School of Monetary Studies.

In recognition of his achievements, Robert was nominated and won the Tanzania Annual Young Professionals Awards (TAYPA) in 2015, an event that recognizes high-performing young professionals across all industries who are making a difference in their respective fields and communities.
